Aduri

Aduri, a little girl of ten started working as a maid in a house of Pallabi since the last week of December 2012. Instead of laborious working she deserved nothing but inhuman torture, negligence and starvation. The mistress and her mother compelled her to remain starved most of the time in a day. They tortured her with the utmost cruelty  as they made her burnt with heated iron and other metalic object and they pierced  her body with sharp blade  etc. This type of brutality went on days after days. Consequently she embraced a very worse condition and was about to die, at that time she was driven out of that house.

23rd September 2013, in the afternoon a policeman of Cantonment PS made arrangements to send her to Dhaka medical college hospital at a very critical stage of her life as he saw her lying abandoned near a dustbeen in DOHS Baridhara.

The Police Commissioner, DMP Benazir Ahmed BPM (bar) made the news about Aduri known to Victim  Support Center (DMP) and its Quick Response Team responded instantly and rushed to Dhaka medical college hospital to attend her with the full sincerity. And from that time victim support centre collected all types of information related to the sufferings, ill-treatment and all the injustces done to her during her maid-life and took all-out responsibility of her.

VSC went a very quick action in arresting the culprits which was a great step to promote the justice system. A case was filed under section 4(1)/30 in Women and Children Repression Control Act 2000 (Reformation/2003) in Pallabi PS on 26 September 2013. Within a few days WS&ID received the case for investigation. Simaltaneously with the investigation process it continued observation and monitoring of her total care, adequate security and proper treatment. After three days of her admission Aduri was taken to OCC (one-stop-crisis centre) at DMCH. The Division maintained timely co-ordination with the hospital authority about her better treatment till her full recovery.

After proper investigation had been completed under the direct supervision of high officials of WS&ID, the investigating officer brought charge-sheet against the two perpatrators  for commiting such a ruthless crime.

On 4 November 2013 a safe and sound Aduri was released from DMCH and on behalf of DMP she was presented five (05) rickshaws by the DMP Commissioner in a formal program. Additional Commissioner, DMP, Maruf Hasan contributed Tk-25,000/- at his personal interest and a relative to ADC, PBI donated Tk-76,000/-. These contributions would be a great help to her for being self-dependent through the rest of her life.
